Programming Soundtrack

Introduction

As software developers, programming and thinking about programming takes up a large majority of our time. Having our career be such an engrossing part of our lives doesn't leave much time to discover new music. So in my effort to stay current and discover new music I have several sites I like to visit frequently; let's admit it, Huey Lewis and the News is no longer cool. You want music that will melt your face off, or music that will calm you down when you are stressing. Music is also a great tool for developers to drown out those other loud developers while you are coding and learning. Music is one of those things that I love to discover for myself, and if you do as well then the following sites are for you. These sites allow you to stream music through the web browser, so you can visit these while you are at work.

http://www.pandora.com

This site lets you type in a genre, artist, or song. Then it goes and finds bands similar to what you entered. It is a pretty cool piece of software in addition to a good site to listen to.

http://www.PureVolume.com

This site is for small bands about to make the break into the mainstream. It is a great site to discover new bands and find out what's going on in the scene.

http://www.last.fm

Similar to PureVolume but with more mainstream bands. It also allows you to create your own playlists online.

So go discover new bands, and be a rockstart developer!

A Little Narcissism

I am a .NET developer mainly focused on Web development and enterprise applications. I strive to keep my skills at their best and always looking to absorb that much more knowledge. I am learning new things like Windows Workflow Foundation, LINQ, Ruby on Rails, WPF, ASP.NET MVC, and anything else thrown at me; I say bring it on!
